Private and Public Partners join efforts to end the Neglect of 1.4 billion people
On 30 January 2012, a major push was given in London to accelerate progress toward the control of
neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) by a group of pharmaceutical companies, governments,
the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the World Bank and other global health organisations.
Uniting their efforts with NTD-endemic countries, partners committed to work together to improve the lives
of those affected by NTDs, most of whom are among the world’s poorest.
To guide the effort against NTDs, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has developed a strategy:
Accelerating work to overcome the global impact of neglected tropical diseases
A roadmap for implementation.
